| | While Product Support Manager at Telektronics, Ralph Dick, now
Managing Director of NVSI, forged such strong links with the R&D
Dept of National Instruments in the US that the two companies shared
a broadband link well before broadband became publicly available.
That was pre-1995, but after an accident put Ralph in hospital, a
major life evaluation put Ralph on the path to going into business
for himself. Research Joining Development was born and Ralph became
an NI Alliance member less than 2 years later.
In 2003, Ralph saw the opportunity to
acquire the trading name 'NVSI' and continue trading as a business
entity (the new NVSI). The company is now owned and run by
Ralph and his partner Shirley, ably assisted by Sales Manager, Alex
Gouliaev, and a group of technical staff all keen to show their
prowess by passing yet more exams in software development. Why, oh
why, must exams be the path? See below.

NVSI staff qualify... again

| | When National Instruments hinted at raising the bar for Alliance
Members to include a Certified LabVIEW Developer (CLD) on staff,
Ralph Dick, Managing Director of NVSI, went further. It is a
requirement for all technical staff to become a CLD as soon as
possible after employment.

This is not without risk when a staff member speaks English as a
second language as the exams are only available in English, but
Ralph believes the improvement in understanding and code quality is
worth it.
Not only has the requirement to
become a CLD been put in place but, in the last 2 years, three
people have become Certified LabVIEW Architects through NVSI. This
is the highest qualification in LabVIEW, and the latest, Graeme
Bowyer, is also probably the youngest Architect in the world. These
are the only Architects to qualify in the Southern Hemisphere to
date, and they are proving to be highly sought after as
employees,  as well as making a point of difference to our
customers. Apart from Graeme's exam success,
Matthew Rees, the latest addition to our team, gained Associate
Developer status, as did Alex Gouliaev and Ralph Dick. CONGRATULATIONS!

move to the Dome at the Sydney Showground in Sydney Olympic Park
proved to be a step up on the Darling Harbour site in terms of
accessibility and location. Firstly, there's plenty of parking
available and, secondly, it's close to industrial areas of Sydney.
After
the usual last minute scramble for missing cables, we were there!
Brochures printed, demos working (mostly) and posters on the walls.
Stand B31, right in front of the seminar theatre, was dressed and
ready. It was a treat to be able to chat to new, existing and past
clients and suppliers, some of whom were unaware of the change in
company ownership a couple of years ago. Also to stand back and
evaluate just how far the company has come in that time. Best of
all, was the mix of cutting edge hardware entrusted to NVSI by our
partners - NI, SICK, Rohde & Schwarz and Fiberbyte - for
demonstration purposes, it was a privilege to represent you, and the
camaraderie between partner booths. NVSI and our
Alliance Partners, National Instruments and
Adept Electronic Solutions, formed a neat, close triangle with much
interaction between the stands.
By now, all people who were scanned
at our booth should have been contacted, but if you missed us, or if
there's anything specific you'd
like to explore further, please feel free to contact
us.
